EPA Compliance requirements for diagnostic imaging

  • At Initial installation and prior to use of the system. Mammography apparatus must be inspected for compliance within 1 year of the initial compliance inspection anniversary.

  • At Initial installation and prior to use of the system. Fluoroscopic / CT apparatus must be inspected for compliance within 2 years of the initial compliance inspection anniversary.

  • At Initial installation and prior to use of the system. General Radiography / Dental and BMD apparatus must be inspected for compliance within 5 years of the initial compliance inspection anniversary.

  • Significant parts exchange (repairs/modifications etc) that relate to, or affect dose/image quality chain for X-Ray apparatus, will require compliance testing to be completed before clinical or operational use can be made. Examples of this relate to tube or detector repairs, replacements or additions.

  • Should the X-ray system be relocated, compliance testing will need to be complete to the specifications outlined in radiation standard 6, before use of the machine can take place.

  • At Initial installation and prior to use of the system, Xray used in Veterinary sciences such as General Radiography, Fluoroscopy and CT must be inspected for compliance within 5 years of the initial compliance inspection anniversary.
